I read Marie Kondo’s book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up about a decade ago. Two things stuck with me. Most important, overall I think, was the idea of “sparking joy.” I think of that idea when I see something or someone that — well—sparks joy in me. It’s a great feeling. “Sparking Joy” is a great way of expressing it.
The other thing the book left me with was a long-lasting approach to stowing away my laundry. I am NOT an orderly person by nature. So when I open a drawer to find a particular shirt and find it easily, it gives me a tiny bit of pleasure, and a nudge to try to create just a little more order in my life.

I have heard that, upon the birth of her third child, Ms. Kondo has become a little less obsessive about keeping everything tidy. Here’s a Washington Post Story about the change. And my curiosity has been piqued by her new book about Kurashi. I have a library card. I think I’ll check it out.

Nicely organized closet! Not many of us would be willing to post a photo of their closet online. I'm enjoying your blog.
