Why subscribe?

What’s in it for you?

Think about it as exploration; visiting a few interesting nooks and crannies, maybe getting an introduction to a new interest and picking up a useful tip, an interesting observation, or maybe a useful recipe along the way. Subscribe and receive the newsletter regularly (you can always unsubscribe at any time) and get access to the Quadrants website for past issues and more.

What’s in it for me?

I’d like to stay in touch with people who are interested in some of the same things I care about. It’s a pretty big list of things, actually. Writing and creativity in general. Music and dance — that’s a big one. Saving the planet from global warming — another biggie. But wait, there’s more. Living sustainably. Living well and ethically. Being able to look in the mirror and feel like maybe you done good today.

And cookery! Interesting recipes and cooking tips.

What’s in it for Us?

Several of the projects I’m working on will provide opportunities for other people to get involved. Books, for example, need Beta readers (first reactions to a manuscript) and ARC (advance reader copy) readers when a book launches. There are ideas and designs I have in mind that need feedback. And then, there are corrections, recommendations for improvements, ideas spurred by other ideas, and more. The Substack platform allows for comments and I hope that some interesting dialogue will take place.

I think this will be a good way to stay in touch, share words, thoughts, ideas, and even a few hopes and dreams. It’s free. I’m thinking, to start, I’ll try to publish something monthly on the third Wednesday. Maybe there will be some additional posts in an ad hoc sort of way. Always remember, you’re in charge of the subscription so you can opt-out at any time.

FYI, when trying to decide how to find a way to communicate regularly with people, I saw how many of the newsletters I subscribe to are hosted on Substack including Austin Kleon, Garrison Keillor, and Walt Hickey. I liked the way the tech worked and I hope you will too. More info about the platform is at Substack.com.
